Interior Designer

Motivated and self-guiding professional with an ability to lead projects from start to finish. Ability to manage existing client relationships and promote Onyx Group and Onyx’s portfolio to existing and new clients. Develop new business opportunities and expand The Onyx Group portfolio with wide ranging projects and tasks.

Skillful at formatting the project needs into a project scope, preparing schematic designs and leading the client through design development and construction documents. The candidate must be experienced and knowledgeable in reviewing submittals and shop drawings during the Construction Administration phase.

Ability to create functional and aesthetic designs that help boost productivity, meet current codes and enhance a workspace is essential. The candidate will be responsible for planning the use and layout of the space, selecting and overseeing the selection of finishes and materials project wide, selecting furniture and fixtures, etc. Creating specifications for finishes and furnishings.  Developing drawings, presentations, and cost estimates and coordinating the work of contractors as well as other involved disciplines.

The candidate will exhibit familiarity with industry terminology and exhibit a leadership role in continuing education and staying abreast of the developing industry trends. The candidate will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, will perform a variety of tasks and lead and direct the work of others – including junior design staff. The candidate will oversee project submissions.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position will report to senor project architect/ project manager or head of the department.

Familiarity and work experience with government projects will be considered a plus. The candidate must be experienced and comfortable in participating in client meetings, guiding the meetings and well as preparing presentations for clients to showcase the design ideas and submissions.

Promote and maintain a level of professionalism adequate to the design industry.

Working knowledge of and minimum 3 years of experience working with:

Revit, AutoCAD, Specifications

Certifications and Accreditation:

NCIDQ Certification

LEED AP Certification

Education:

Bachelors or Masters in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited college/ university.

8 to 10 years’ minimum experience in the industry.
