Project Architect

We are seeking a “difference maker”—someone who epitomizes creativity, character, and charisma—to join our team as a Project Architect Team Leader in our Old Town Alexandria office.
The Onyx Group consistently meets deadlines, solves customers' problems, and exceeds their expectations by offering exceptional services and products. The Project Architect will be responsible for daily design and technical development of projects in order to provide on-time and unique solutions to clients. Specific responsibilities include: client and business partner interaction; leadership on project teams; providing quality design solutions in an efficient time frame; production of construction documents, including technical detailing and project specification writing; quality control of construction documents, project specifications, and other design documents; mentoring colleagues as well as the willingness to learn current industry standards.
Requirements:
- A working knowledge of Revit (v. 2011)
- Must possess the knowledge, understanding, and ability to implement quality aesthetic design into construction documents through technical detailing, discipline coordination, code requirements, and overall constructability
- A willingness to mentor as well as learn
- Excellent communication (visual, verbal, and written) and a positive, collaborative, team-building attitude and behavior
- The ability to travel for projects
- U.S. citizen
Preferred Skills: (not absolutely required)
- NCARB Certification
- 8-12 years of progressive experience in field (or equivalent time frame for skills mentioned)
- A background in project management and construction administration; experience working on federal and DoD projects as well as LEED projects/sustainable design
- Proficiency in several of the following software programs: AutoCAD, Microstation, Adobe Creative Suites, MasterSpec and/or SpecsIntact
